General Info
he period grandeur of the Midland hotel was the perfect setting for Key 103s Manchester kids charity event in November 2003. An aura of decadent glamour from a bygone era was created with sumptuous décor in the Alexandra suit.
The room became a gorgeous vista of twinkling lights, huge draped mirrors, tall clusters of ostrich feathers and accents of sparkles and glitter. Theatrical lighting made play with the décor capturing the light sending sparkles cascading throughout the room. And in the centre of this lovely scene sat aerial artist Millie the beautiful flapper girl on a giant hoop swing.
As the guests arrived they were given the red carpet treatment of Stars and Starlets from a golden era. Beautiful Bunny boys and girls served champagne as they were serenaded by the romantic music of a live jazz duo.
As true stars they were also snapped and interviewed by our cheeky paparazzi team (photos became available on line the following day).
The tables will have giveaways of white feather boas for the ladies and top hats for the chaps.
Marilyn Monroe welcomed guests and introduced internationally acclaimed Jewel who performed a fabulous gem encrusted contortion duo act.
As the evening gathered pace our celebrity auctioneers Justin Moorhouse and guests created much happiness amongst guests with some amazing prizes. Generous patrons had supported Manchester Kids Charity with some amazing one-off auctioned experiences and even a car.
The fun carried on with some songs from Marilyn and in an explosion of glittering firework fountains our fabulous house band kicked off with some of Sinatras’ hottest tunes.
The fantastic fun guests now bedecked in white give-away boas were so enthusiastic that they joined in with the choreographed slinky dance routines and danced the night away until the early hours of the morning…..
